Where to Stay – Hilton Garden Inn Jackson

A few years ago, I had some amazing opportunities to travel around the country for work. Working in events took me to some of the biggest and smallest cities in America. There is nothing like seeing new places, new towns, and you can’t beat the feeling of a good night’s rest in a comfy hotel bed.

These days, travel is more pleasure than work and so the moments I have a chance to get out of town are special and a treat. Earlier this month, Mario and I took a trip to Jackson Mississippi to celebrate our friend’s wedding. It was the first time in years we are able to see almost all of our college friends in one setting in years. Moments like that are rare and special – and we truly enjoyed it.

As with any event, the list of things to consider is important. What to wear, what to bring, how to travel, and most importantly – Where to stay.

After my trip to Colombia and our brief stay at the Conrad Cartagena (an Hilton other Hilton property), I found myself with another opportunity to experience the Hilton chain at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown in Jackson MS

The Hilton Garden Inn Jackson is a beautiful 184 room hotel adorned with high columns and classic touches like a two story atrium and grand staircase with dark wood accents. I was sad I couldn’t take pictures in there for a week! The classic architecture was definitely inspiring my dramatic side and all I needed were a ball gown or two.  Although our stay was short at only one night, we took full advantage of the full breakfast options, outdoor eating options at the King Edward Bar Patio, and got some much needed rest in the most comfortable bed. We checked in after the wedding but before we went out with friends so having a spacious room to get ready quickly was a huge benefit for us. Well, that and the speed of the valet service !

After fully crashing the night before we woke up to the sun and a view of downtown Jackson from the window excited to explore the property. But first—coffee! I suppose my night of dancing and catching up with friends worked up an extreme appetite because I ate everything. I had fruit, cheese Danish, cheese grits, eggs, bacon, and biscuits. Your girl was hungry and it was all delicious! The dining seating area is conveniently placed by the front desk for those of us who are zombies before their coffee intake.

You would think that would be the extent of the food options but they can also make food to order for you, have dry cereal and a whole toast and bagel bar. It was pretty delicious.

My only regret is we had no time to visit the pool. I will use any excuse andopportunity to play in the water.

As part of Jackson revitalization project of downtown in 2009, this classic hotel is for sure my go to when going back to Jackson as it is both visually pleasing and a pleasant stay. I went to college in Mississippi so there are plenty of friends still there to visit. Plus, can one have too many pictures in front of white columns? I think not. If you are visiting Jackson or even looking for a staycation, I definitely recommend the Hilton Garden Inn Jackson

Have you ever stayed in a Hilton Hotel?
